Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge

Hardcastle Crags, nestled 2 miles north of the quaint town of Hebden Bridge, is a large woodland owned by the National Trust. Ignoring the crowds that congregate there on a Saturday and Sunday its a painstakingly beautiful part of Yorkshire, every season its a different place although autumn is pretty special. Best enjoyed by a train into Hebden Bridge, an uphill 1+ mile walk to the entrance (parking is horrific) and a wander past the tourists to the beautiful Gibson Mill, enjoy the stillness of the water and the architecture and then seek out the quiet walks away from the people, it won't disappoint. A few miles and some beautiful scenery later, a descent into Hebden Bridge Town is much needed with a quick stop at Vocation & Co for a drink and then the train home. The best kind of day trip.
